True meaning of Christmas

My children, like most others I know, enjoy the usual Christmas season things...cookies, candy, presents, etc.  But this year, they surprised me.
Last year, on our way home from the lights at Alum Creek with my parents, we happened to pass by a local church doing a living nativity and the girls asked to stop.  The church has the traditional scene, including a sheep, donkey and camel!  The girls enjoyed it then, but even remembered it this year and had been asking about it so much, that I finally called the church last week to find out if they'd be doing it again this year and when...We found out they would be doing the living nativity Mon-Thurs evenings this week, so we decided tonight was a good night to go see it.  We got there right when it started so the girls got to see the animals arriving and everything setting the scene.  They recognized the three wise men, the shepherds, Mary, the baby, and the angel....AND, they also noticed the absence of Joseph (apparently he was still inside drinking coffee).  Kevin and I were very impressed by how much the girls were interested in seeing the living nativity and all the questions they had about the details of the birth of Jesus.
We were reminded tonight, as we walked through the living nativity, of the true meaning of Christmas.  The joy of the birth of God's son...the most amazing and wonderful gift.
