Christmas memories

There are so many wonderful things about the Christmas season! It's one of my favorite times of the year. As a family, we try to make a month-long daily celebration from December 1st to the 25th. We decorate our house the weekend after Thanksgiving. We go to the lights at the zoo. We watch a different Christmas movie every day! We read Christmas stories...thanks to Aunt Erin, we now have almost enough to read a different story every night, but of course, we have our favorites, so we read many of them multiple nights: Auntie Claus, Mr. Willoughby's Christmas Tree, The Polar Express, and the new ones this year: Fancy Nancy Splendiferous Christmas and The True Gift. We make Christmas cookies (usually in Pittsburgh with the Caffalls, but unfortunately we didn't make it this year). We go see The Nutcracker.

We have the Children's Christmas play at church, in which Emma had a solo this year! (see prior post) We enjoy looking at lights any morning or evening we're out when the sun is not. Every year, there's always a new thing or two during our celebration: this year, we had Noel (Santa's elf) come stay with us for the month (check out her blog at noeltheelf.blogspot.com), Allie got to go to her first play with Grandma and Grandpa all by herself (Madeline's Christmas - see previous post), and we decorated Christmas cookies with the Harrs. So many memories, and we're only halfway to Christmas.
